Growing up in farming central in Eastern Ontario, Barry’s first skiing experience was at age 5 skiing behind a snowmobile. At age 15, Barry finally got to ski on snow at a local hill…it wasn’t long before he was completely hooked. Four years after his first ski hill experience, he was teaching full time at a local ski hill. Fast forward a few years, Barry moved to Whistler, BC, where through his years of experience and his passion to enhance his own skiing abilities, Barry moved into the ski boot fitting industry. He has become the YES Pros favourite boot fitter and has been voted Whistler’s top boot fitter.
Barry is a CSIA Level 4 Ski Instructor and a CSIA Level 4 Course Conductor as well as a trainer for the Whistler Blackcomb Snow School.
Working with YES since it was a thought in PJ’s head, Barry now spends summers back East with his family. While his summer months always included a ski trip to Wanaka NZ, where he managed the YES Program, since Covid, summer skiing continues to be a big part of his life…. just the type that requires a body of water!
As with every passing year, Barry returns to Whistler every October to set up his business ¨Ski Connexions custom boot fitting¨ where he spends the next 6 months providing boot fitting service and on-snow training and assessment to both instructors and ski enthusiasts looking to improve their skiing performance.
